Jean-Luc Godard: YouTubed
"Films are the only things by which to look inside people, and that's why people are so fond of movies and why they'll never die."
An excerpt of the infamous ten minute tracking shot (and opening) for Jean-Luc Godard's 1967 film Weekend. Lots more YouTubed Godard in the continuation.
The Japanese trailer for Weekend.
The trailer for 1960's Breathless.
The trailer for 1962's Vivra Sa Vie (My Life to Live). "One of the most extraordinary, beautiful, and original works of art that I know of." - Susan Sontag.
The trailer for Alphaville, a Strange Adventure of Lemmy Caution from 1965 (my favourite Godard film). How about that music!
The trailer for 1965's Pierrot le Fou (Pierrot the Mad).

I've never understood the Godard fascination. Contempt is one of the worst films ever made. An absolute stinker. Perhaps it's the idea of the films. The final results are generally pretty bad, often embarrassing and date more every day.

Very iconoclastic in their day (and even today). They still certainly have their moments and are definitely not intended for 'easy viewing'. I saw Alphaville again recently (probably the 5th or 6th time)... for me one of the all-time greats and timeless. And the above tracking shot.... seriously wow!
