Knitted in Tasmania

Previously on 1+1=3 I wrote about the wonderful Penguin Jumpers Project, which helps rehabilitate oil-affected Fairy Penguins in Tasmania. Now the folks at Hobart's Strathaven home for the elderly have knitted an entire 1950s living room that even has a knitted view out of a window and knitted Elvis records.
The walls, the carpet, a radio, books, tea-sets, and everything you would expect to find in a Tasmanian living room in the 1950s has been lovingly handcrafted out of wool.
From the ABC site: "I don't think they thought we
could do this kind of work. I think it's wonderful - it makes you feel
good. You don't feel as though you're just sitting here doing nothing -
that's the worst thing out".
Not only is the art/handcraft of knitting artistic, therapeutic and penguin life-saving but it keeps you warm. 1+1=3 is pushing for the Apple Isle to be officially recognised as the knitting capital of the world. Please write to your local Government minister.
